These are songs written in the face of tragedy and grief, sung in spite of them, through love. Of two extremes that have felt like the forefront of my life for most of my life. Of love that made it bearable. Of life, of survival, of defiance.” - Arson Fahim

Arson Fahim is a pianist, composer, and conductor from Afghanistan. A fierce believer in the power of music to make the world a better place by being a catalyst for activism and social change, Arson’s music is often inspired by the tragedies and injustices of war. To Arson, music is a form of protest and an act of rebellion. He strives for his art to be a symbol of freedom and perseverance, as well as a source of solace and hope even in the darkest of times.
In 2021, just weeks before the Taliban took control of Kabul and once again banned music, Arson graduated from the Afghanistan National Institute of Music and moved to the United States to pursue his studies at the Longy School of Music (UD ’24) and the New England Conservatory (BM ’26). He now lives in New York, where he is pursuing a master’s degree at the Mannes School of Music.

Cuatro Puntos Ensemble amplifies silenced and persecuted musicians alongside their unique styles of music. This flexible string ensemble collaborates with local, national, and international guest artists to produce genre-defying and culturally significant concert programing and album recordings. Although primarily made of two violinists, two violists, and a cellist, the ensemble varies in instrumentation and genre as they adapt to the changing needs of modern music making, and as they tackle genres previously unknown to their instruments due to systemic oppression and racism in Western music making . Together they aim for the highest in artistic excellence while centering underrepresented, silenced, and persecuted performing musicians and composers. Cuatro Puntos Ensemble has been reviewed by Fanfare Magazine as having a “great depth of sound” and “virtuostic performance”. They have performed extensively, in their various formats, throughout the United States as well as in Bolivia, Brazil, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Afghanistan. To date they have produced twelve albums of varying genres and styles on major international record labels like Métier, Toccata Classics, and Naxos, and are currently signed to the genre-defying label Arkadash Records. They have been included on the soundtrack for films produced in England, Australia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and have been guest lecturers at prestigious universities such as New England Conservatory (Boston), Columbia University (New York), Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (Germany), and Goldsmiths College (London). They have been featured on BBC, NPR and on media around the world. The ensemble was founded in 2012 and carries the name Spanish version of their name, "four points", in recognition of their first international partners in Tarija, Bolivia.
