Arkadaş draws divine inspiration from modes and rhythms of the Middle East, whirling ancient Sufi traditions into a unique improvisatory style all their own. Ameen Mokdad (violin) and Kevin Bishop (viola) first drank tea and made music together on an ancient mountaintop overlooking Mesopotamia, and later studied in the caves and hills of Kapadokya. Arkadaş means "friend”, and these friends have brought their individual heritage, the magic of eastern Turkey, and a lot of tea on their journey to find an authentic and spiritual way to make music. Their unique style has roots with the desert mystics of long ago, but a personal touch that shares their own stories.
